Your privacy on StudentUploader
The short version:
- Your photos and PDFs stay on your device
- We only send your work somewhere when you press Email to Teacher, or when you upload a Word file
- We don't sell anything, show ads, or use AI on your work
- No account, no password, nothing to sign up for
Who we are
StudentUploader is run by MarkMule Limited, registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under reference ZC255899. Questions? Email studentuploader@markmule.com.
What happens to your stuff
Photos and PDFs
- Turned into one PDF inside your browser
- They never leave your device unless you email them
Word files (.doc, .docx, .odt)
- Your browser can't turn these into a PDF itself
- So we send the file to CloudConvert, a file-conversion company, which turns it into a PDF. We tell it to delete the file as soon as we have the PDF back
- Don't want that? Save it as a PDF first and upload that instead
When you press "Email to Teacher"
We send:
- your name and the subject you typed
- your PDF
- your teacher's email address
It goes through Resend, an email company, and lands in your teacher's inbox. Resend keeps a record of the email for up to 30 days, so delivery problems can be checked, then deletes it. Once it's in your teacher's inbox, it's your teacher's and your school's to look after.
Double-check the email address before you press Send. If it's wrong, your work goes to the wrong person.
"Remember this email"
- If you tick it, your teacher's email is saved in this browser only, so you don't have to type it again
- On a shared school computer, leave it unticked. Otherwise the next person will see it
Your IP address
- That's your internet connection's address. We keep it for 24 hours to stop people spamming the email and conversion buttons, then delete it

Some of these process data outside the UK. When they do, they use the legal safeguards UK law requires.
What we don't do
- No accounts, logins or passwords
- No ads, and no selling or sharing your data
- No AI looks at your work
- No visit tracking, and no following you around other websites
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. Most of the time we hold nothing, because your files stay on your device.

For teachers and parents
- Why we use your data: to do the one thing the student asked for (make a PDF and send it). The lawful basis is legitimate interests
- Nothing is kept by us: files exist only in the browser, during conversion, or in Resend's 30-day email record
- Names aren't checked: the name on an email is whatever the student typed. If something looks wrong, check with the student, and report misuse to studentuploader@markmule.com
- Teacher links: a link with a teacher's email in it locks the address for the student. Only share links you made yourself
